John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he composed, the majority of which were set in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Many people took the road to Colorado due to Denver's famous tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states the fact that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He is now the face of Colorado on the world stage. Through my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell that you're from Colorado The first thing they'll use are"Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff had written the song inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew it would become an instant hit in the top 10. After singing to an enthusiastic crowd on the streets of Washington D.C., the singer recorded this song.
