She was at the same time contemporary and traditional a Mexican-American star who bound together both realms of music in an unison way. And she delivered excellent Tejano music to a mass audience. Like many times with a bright and charming star dies way too soon the tragic loss of her life shattered her rising profile. A lot of mourners reacted to its untapped potential. Through the years, her people were motivated to work even harder to ensure that Selena's achievements would not be forgotten. The tragic shooting death of Selena provoked a reaction from the Latino Community, similar with the reactions to the death of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. Selena was a hugely adored singer within Latino communities throughout North America her music crossed lines of cultural difference to affect people young and old alike. Selena, a gorgeous and glamorous stage performer who is often called Latina Madonna, was also the model on stage. Selena participated in antidrug campaigns.
